Back in Britain, Richard Hannay is bored to death after spending years in Africa. He begins to think otherwise when a corpse is found in his London flat and he becomes a murder suspect. Soon he is running for his life across the hills of Scotland.

Not only are the police chasing him for the murder, the mysterious 'Black Stone' is also after him for the little black note-book in his hands.

Will Hannay manage to escape? Or will he be captured by his pursuers? Read this exciting thriller to find out what conspiracy lies behind the murder.

John Buchan, a British novelist famous for his adventure stories, was educated at Glasgow University and Oxford. He himself was a Hannay-like character: he was active and daring, and worked in British Intelligence during the First World War. In 1935 he was sent to Canada as Governor-General and spent the rest of his life there.
