Fanny Price finds life difficult when she first arrives at Mansfield Park. She is afraid of her uncle Sir Thomas Bertram, and her aunt has little affection for her. Only Edmund, her youngest cousin, is kind and friendly.

One day, the Crawfords come to stay at Mansfield's parsonage, and life at Mansfield Park is no longer the same. A play is planned and rehearsed, and several people fall in love.

How will Fanny and the people around her order their lives? Will they find love and happiness?

Jane Austen lived quietly in the English countryside about two hundred years ago, and wrote stories that looked very closely at the lives and loves of people of her time.

Two other of her books are available as Oxford Progressive English Readers: Emma in Grade 1 and Pride and Prejudice in Grade 5.
