Pip is an orphan whose life is changed
by two strange meetings. As a child, he meets an escaped
prisoner, a frightening man who makes Pip bring him
food and a tool to cut his chains.
A few years later, the strange Miss Havisham introduces
Pip to a beautiful but cruel girl called Estella. Miss
Havisham and Estella are rich and proud, and Pip is
ashamed of his poor home and rough ways. He dreams of
becoming a gentleman so that he can win Estella's heart.
Years later, it seems that Pip's dreams have come true.
An unknown person is going to give him a fortune, so
that he can be a gentleman. But who is this mysterious
person? When he finds out, Pip's troubles are only just
beginning ...
Charles Dickens was a very popular writer who lived
