Alice is sitting by the river when suddenly a white rabbit runs past her. Then the rabbit takes a watch out of its coat pocket and says it is late! Alice is very surprised. She runs after the rabbit and follows it into a large rabbit hole.

This is how Alice's adventures begin. In Wonderland she meets a caterpillar that smokes a pipe, a baby that turns into a pig, a Queen who wants to have everyone's head cut off, and many more strange people and animals.

Lewis Carroll was the eldest son in a family of eleven children. He often made up funny stories to amuse his younger brothers and sisters. Later he wrote two of the most successful children's books ever: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. Through the Looking Glass is available in Level 2 of this series.
